Styles of Yoga Offered at Grow Yoga
Grow Yoga offers a variety of yoga styles to meet a wide range of interests and needs. A common thread that ties our classes together is the linking of movement with uyjayi breath and using the yoga practice to cultivate self-inquiry.
Anusara Yoga
Anusara Yoga is a Hatha yoga system that is based upon the Universal Principles of Alignment. These principles help us to individually align with our optimal blueprint thereby experiencing a clear mind, vibrant body and an open heart. Anusara means “to be in the flow,” “flowing with Grace,” “to go with the flow of Divine Love,” “to follow your heart.” The Anusara Classes are listed in our class descriptions under Hatha Yoga.
Ashtanga Yoga
Ashtanga yoga links breath with movement in a set sequence of postures designed to detoxify the mind-body while creating strength and flexibility. This vigorous practice creates an intense, purifying heat that results in a detoxifying sweat and in greater range of motion. When practiced regularly, Ashtanga yoga creates a strong, light body, an open heart, and a clear mind.
Vinyasa
Like Ashtanga, Vinyasa links movement with breath. However, the pace is slower and the sequence of postures is creative. Certain postures may be explored more deeply using longer holds with an emphasis on mindful alignment from the inside out.
